Belstead Research has significant experience in both the development and use of version 3 of ESA's DRAMA re-entry certification tool.
This includes the modelling of vehicles within DRAMA, as well the execution of both single-shot and probabilistic assessments of destructive re-entry. In addition to its extensive experience of modelling spacecraft, Belstead Research has a set of Excel based tools for capturing and visualising vehicles throughout their development.
In 2020 Belstead Research completed an activity to enhance DRAMA through the inclusion of new models for sandwich panels and complex nested components, such as reaction wheels. These models were based on hypersonic wind tunnel test results, previously rebuilt using the SAMj framework. This work involved the integration of SAMj aerodynamic and thermal models into DRAMA.
